Webflow vs WordPress: Which platform is better for agencies?

WordPress is the grandad of the internet, running something like 40% of all websites. That doesn't make it the right choice for the sites you're handing over to clients. Think of it like an old ute versus a new one. One gets there eventually with a lot of maintenance. The other was built for how fast things move now.

Speed and SEO

Webflow ships clean, minimal code. A blank WordPress page carries around 100 lines before you've done anything. Webflow starts at about 3. Add a section on WordPress and you're stacking more code on top. Add one on Webflow and it stays lean. That difference shows up in load times, and load times show up in Google rankings.

Looks right on everything

Your client's customers are on phones, laptops, tablets and whatever comes next. Webflow lets you design for every breakpoint properly. WordPress can technically do responsive too, it just fights you the whole way there.

Things stop randomly breaking

Update one plugin on WordPress and watch something unrelated fall over. It happens constantly. Webflow doesn't run on a patchwork of plugins from strangers on the internet, so there's nothing random to break.

Backups and security are built in

Every change in Webflow is backed up automatically, and rolling back takes one click. WordPress can do this too, in theory, if you've set it up right and nothing's gone wrong in the meantime. Security wise, Webflow just wins. No plugins means no backdoors.

Dynamic pages without the pain

Need to build fifty landing pages for fifty locations or products? Webflow's CMS handles that from one template. No manually building fifty pages and losing a week of your life.

Test before it goes live

Webflow gives you a proper staging environment to share with the client before anything goes public. Miles ahead of WordPress's basic preview mode.

The verdict

If you want client sites that are fast, secure and don't turn into ongoing support contracts, Webflow is the easy call. WordPress might still get the job done. It just makes you do a lot more of the work to get there.
