Speed & SEO: Website optimisation tips

Every "SEO tips" article reads the same. Compress your images. Add alt text. Write meta descriptions. All true. All useless if the platform underneath is fighting you the whole way.

Here's the take nobody wants to hear. If you need an SEO plugin, your site already lost.

Speed and SEO are the same job

Google doesn't rank sites because they filled in a checklist. It ranks sites that load fast, structure content properly and don't make visitors wait around. Speed isn't a separate task you bolt on after launch. It's a symptom of how the site was built in the first place.

A site stacked with plugins, trackers and bloated themes will never out-optimise its way to a good score. You're polishing a car with a flat tyre.

What actually works

Build lean from day one. Every extra script, every unnecessary animation, every plugin you didn't need is a tax on load time. Pay it upfront by not adding it, not later by trying to undo it.

Structure content like it matters. Real headings. Real hierarchy. Not a wall of bold text pretending to be a heading because nobody set it up properly.

Write for the question, not the keyword. Google got smarter than keyword stuffing years ago. Answer the actual question someone's typing and the ranking follows.

Stop treating this as an afterthought

Speed and SEO aren't a phase two. They're decided in the first week of a build, in the platform you choose and the discipline you build with. Get that right and there's nothing left to "optimise". Get it wrong and no amount of plugins will save you.
